The Australian Reptile Park - the Zoo that Sydney forgets

The Australian Reptile Park

The Australian Reptile Park is the Zoo that Sydney forgets. It is just an hour's drive north of Sydney but most of us don't think of it as somewhere to go. With so many Aussie animals to meet, along with the reptiles, it is well worth stashing away in your personal list of top things to do. It is also very child friendly, as long as they don't get too close to the crocs, alligators, snakes .. :)

The Melbourne Cup in Sydney

Where to watch the Melbourne Cup in Sydney?

There are many fine places to watch the Melbourne Cup in Sydney. You could watch it in a pub, club and even in the office. All very nice. You could watch it in a cafe or restaurant, even at the race track, like Randwick and Rosehill. That's all wonderful but somehow nothing would appear to match watching the race in the middle of Sydney Harbour.

Ultimo Science Festival

Ultimo Science Festival - ends Sunday, 26th August
The Ultimo Science Festival has something for almost everyone from nursery rhymes and story telling to science shows, craft, art and film. I'm afraid they can't help you if you are 'curious' about the recent Martian Landing. The Ultimo Festival has sadly fallen short on this one, they have already told me that nobody would be interested by the time their festival commenced. You could try Sydney Observatory instead as Mars features as part of their holiday program.

Sydney Film Festival

The Sydney Film Festival doesn't start till June but there is a fair bit to see so it is worth thinking about now. Top movies include Mabo, Not Suitable for Children and the Beasts of the Southern Wild. You will find film trailers to all three in the link below. In addition, there's a new Pixar movie that looks interesting and a Woody Allen documentary:
"As a kid, I dreamed of making movies and of being a movie star. I dreamed of playing jazz in New Orleans. I've done all of these things and been very, very fortunate - so why do I still have the feeling that somehow I still got screwed?"

If you are a bit of movie buff head for the Festival Hub for loads of stuff including cheap tickets. Follow the link below for the trailers and more info.

Paddle Pop Adventure Park

Paddle Pop Adventure Park - Macquarie University - Saturday, 28th January - Sunday, 29th January

Paddle Pop Adventure Park has, apparently, the world's longest slip-and-slide. How they know that they have the world's longest slip-and-slide is up for conjecture but I think we can safely say it's BIG. If that doesn't register there's the Jungle Vines climbing wall, elastic rope Jungle, River Rapids slide, Adventure maze, Jurassic Jumping Castle, bungee trampolines, bumper boats, river rollers, and face painting. Then there's a special screening of the Paddle Pop BEGINS movie on a massive outdoor cinema screen. It's all gonna be BIG and its not even raining.
