Canada Day in Sydney

Canada Day at the Rocks - Saturday 29th June

Canada is really just like Australia except it is colder, bigger, has bigger hills, they speak French as well as English and it is located on the other side of the globe. So pretty much the same in a very different kind of way. Celebrate all that's the same and different, have fun, play games, eat, drink and be Canadian for the day. Hey! You might even met one.

Things to do if it rains in Sydney and Sydney Weather

How is the weather treating (with) you?

It's not an uncommon question to ask How's the weather in Sydney? So here is an uncommon answer - it's not bloody good enough! I know, I know there's got to be a little rain sometimes but this is just too much! In order to do what we can do we have instigated anti-rain dancing which involves jumping up and down in ever decreasing circles chanting 'this is not Melbourne!' :) It could become a top thing to do in Sydney. On a more practical level, we have upgraded the Sydney100 weather page to include things to do if the weather is not behaving itself.

Whale Watching in Sydney

Where to see the whales in Sydney

We have gone on about this before and we may well do so again but the whales are coming, the whales are coming! And they won't stop coming until you go and see them. If you are lucky you might even see a mother with her calf but not if you don't go.

Budget cuts mean no Sydney Winter Festival in 2013

Sydney Winter Festival has been axed - Sydney Harbour Bridge to be sold??

Despite reports to the contrary, there will be no official Winter Festival in Sydney this year. It has been axed just like the Blues and Jazz Festival, the Great Train Race and soon to be dismantled Sydney Monorail. So what is next for the chop? The Sydney Harbour Bridge? It was a while ago but the English sold London Bridge to the Americans. I wonder how much the Chinese would pay for the Sydney Harbour Bridge? Maybe we could sell them Blues Point Tower instead.

The Orpheum promises to take you back to "a time when a trip to the movies was truly a grand night out". The Orpheum will be showing 20 plus Sydney Film Festival gems, try to ensure you see at least one of them.

Sydney Great Train Race - Central Station - Saturday, 8th - Monday, 10th June

Sydney's Central Station is going to be a pretty steamy place to over the Queen's Birthday Weekend with the answer to ultimate question, does steam beat diesel? Well, of course it does but that's not to say the 'Great Train Race' won't be exciting and you can be part of it.
